The Forgotten Sisters

The Forgotten Sisters

Did you know Felix Mendelssohn had a sister, Fanny, who was very talented and composed over 500 pieces of music? Many of them didn’t get published during her life, partly because of her family’s belief. Do you know Lili Boulanger, sister of the legendary French composer Nadia Boulanger? She won the most prestigious competition for composers – the ‘Prix de Rome’ – when she was only 19 years old.
Sadly she died at 24, leaving us with a handful of marvelous pieces.
Christoph Bunzendahl and Anja Kuttner will take you into the world of these 2 famous composers and their lesser known or forgotten sisters.
